Charles River Recreation is committed to providing unique opportunities for outdoor recreation areas in the metropolitan Boston. Today we operate Charles River Canoe and Kayak (based in Newton, and commercial offers canoe and kayak lessons, guided tours, rental, and five seats), Weston track (located at the Martin Golf Course in Weston, and offers the cross country skiing and teaching is well-maintained, lighted paths), and Kendall Square Community Ice Skating (chilled, Zamboni-maintained ice rink in Kendall Square, Cambridge).

Run of the Charles
In 1983, Charles River Watershed Association when it needs funding, we have organized a race of Charles canoe and kayak race. Although never a major source of funding, this event has raised awareness of the river and its recreational opportunities. This breed has developed the largest in New England, more than 2,000 rowers each April.
New Owner
In the mid-1970, the current owners, Larry Smith, Dave Jacques and Mike joined the leaders of Lincoln Guide Service, biking and cross country ski shop and information center in Lincoln, Mass. As the extended enterprise, Larry and Dave assumed management and Canoe Centre has developed a track. In June 1986, Dave, Larry and Jim had taken on the responsibility of these two centers, change the name of Charles River Canoe & Kayak Canoe Centre to recognize the growing impact of these versatile boats. The Charles River Canoe and Kayak has also expanded its range of educational, guided tours, rental, children's camps, and sales of canoes and kayaks. However, the task is to bring low-cost outdoor activities and take the Boston area.

Allston / Brighton. This center is a cooperative effort with the Department of Conservation and Recreation Division of Urban Parks and Recreation. Thanks to the efforts of the manager Ralph Boynton, the center now offers a diverse urban population the opportunity to enjoy the Charles River.
In the summer of 2000 we began offering boat rentals, instruction and camps for children to paddle on Cochituate Canoe and Kayak, located in Lake Cochituate State Park in Natick. The center works with the Department of Conservation Division of State Parks and Recreation and leisure activities.

Our location in Kendall Square, has allowed us to bring our mission of outdoor recreation for the masses to a new level. We have also begun offering a way between Kendall Square and Allston / Brighton, which is also found in the lower Charles River.
In May 2010, in cooperation with the City of Newton Parks and Recreation, we have opened a fifth location Nahanton Rental Newton Park. Located in one of the longest runways in the calm waters of Charles, this site offers a more isolated and wild feeling, if only a few minutes of Newton, Needham, Dedham and Roxbury West.
Kendall Square Community Skating
Winter 2006-2007, we worked with Kendall Square Corporation to carry out their new ice rink in Cambridge, Kendall Square Community Ice Skating. Ice Rink task, as all our activities is to make the outdoors accessible to more people. Ice Rink offers ice skating is a cold-treated surface and Zamboni, skate rental, lessons, snack bar, and warm up any cold feet at the end of your skate.
Future
We will continue to be affordable for residents of outdoor recreation in the greater Boston area, and hope you will join us in our quest to get more people outside and enjoy our great natural resources , so that these resources can be conserved and protected.
